THE GLORY SERIES SPOILER FREE REVIEW
Overall, I'm loving this. Complex story and plot, highly emotional and psychological, eerie and brutal; it's all good. I'm not sure about the casting, I need to watch the whole season to be able to truly analyze if Song Hyekyo is perfect for the role. So far, she keeps going back and forth between losing her sense of self to revenge and wanting just to be free of it. I do love her acting tho, though she nailed it. It all comes down to whether we will get to see who Dongeun truly is, or they would just fall into lazy writing. I hope that we got to see more of Dong-eun inside, is she actually a cheerful and good person? Or is everything that makes her “her” gone already?
The problem with Asian films is that love only comes in a form of your lover. I hate the romance they provide in this show. It is tasteless and badly executed. What is the point of this doctor? If he doesn't have any background connection with Dongeun, then his character is a waste of screen time. Hell, whatever it is he's already a plothole.

I want to see love comes for Dong-eun in another form. This woman has a such bad childhood, she never knows what it feels like to feel safe, to trust someone, and doesn't know what it feels like to be loved. Her deepest pain comes from her bullies and her parents. I wish they dig more into that, I wish they show that Dong-eun can feel how it is to be loved by another person other than a love interest. Scenes with her factory friend and that cool auntie give us more warmth and feelings rather than with that boring doctor. Please Netflix, don't turn this into something like “My Name”.
I find Dong-eun truly amusing and eerie at the same time. We get to see her layers over time and its interesting. So far, our villains are too one-dimensional. I want to see Yeong-jin in a better light, show us who she is, show us a different side of her that probably would make us feel sorry for that vucking with. I love that everybody in this series is a villain. Nobody is good. So hopefully, we will get to see them play with this moral plot between good & bad. I can't wait for part 2.
