CHRISTIAN BALE THE PALE BLUE EYE MOVIE REVIEW

CHRISTIAN BALE THE PALE BLUE EYE MOVIE REVIEW, SPOILER FREE

Christian Bale stars in the new thriller, drama, and mystery film produced by Netflix, in which we follow Detective Landor alongside a young cadet Edgar Allan Poe. The Pale Blue Eyes captures a somber portrait of the investigation of a crime in the 1830s, located in the United States Military Academy, with situations that slowly but effectively immerse us in the unknown case.

This film exposes a premise that is developed through a bold script, but a weak execution and an unbalanced rhythm, at times repeatedly investigating prolonged and not very entertaining situations, but at its climax it turns with evident intensity, placing the characters in unpredictable positions to some extent.

Despite the notable errors regarding the structural execution of the film and the tedious narrative exposition, in general, the result is ingenious enough to capture my attention as a spectator, mainly by creating an atmosphere of tension and offering questions. which consequently push the second act in favor of the story, however, the film lacks impact except for the epilogue.

WHAT IS THE PALE BLUE EYE BASED ON?

As usual, Christian Bale once again offers a great performance, as a leading character who denotes calm, intellectual, and quite intriguing qualities. Harry Melling is an artist with outstanding acting skills in the productions he has starred in; in this case, with the role of Edgar Allan Poe, he demonstrates once again his talent. The secondary characters play an adequate role for the most part, but some have an irritating and not very credible participation, which contrasts with the serious and realistic tone of the film.

An optimal determination in the direction and the technical aspects add quality to the feature film in these elements, achieving an approach worthy of being viewed and appreciated. Without reaching the highest prestige, I thought it was a good movie, it involves an interesting mystery, with a weak rhythmic execution but good performances, it lacks enough impact, except for its conclusion.
